Day 3 in the pool

The third day in the pool turned into an amazing finale when the girls smashed the Island Games record in the 4x100m freestyle relay and beat the Faroes by the narrowest of margins and in doing so became the first girls team to all swim sub minute. The atmosphere at the Medina centre was electric and a fitting end by winning gold. The team also recorded 4 silvers and 2 bronze.

Tuesday in the pool

Swimming gained a further 6 medals in the pool, 3 silver and 3 bronze taking the tally to 14 medals halfway through the competition but are still looking for that elusive gold.  The first day saw Island Games history with every event being won in a new record.

Monday in the pool

Swimming gained 8 medals in the pool on Monday, 2 silver and 6 bronze. JJ Gallichan swam an outstanding 1500 meters and broke the previous Island Games record and the Island record to be beaten by the Faroes world ranked Pal Johansen.

Jersey’s other silver came in the 4x50m ladies relay narrowly being beaten by the Faroes.
