Jersey Volleyball Men played Greenland yesterday, the bronze medallists at the last Island Games in Aland and the Jersey men played really well and almost won the match. But unfortunately Greenland was stronger and finished off the match by winning in the fifth set by 15-9. The scores for that game was as following Jersey -Greenland 25-12, 23-25, 25-23, 21-25, 9-15.  Well done to Jersey though...

The Archers are up and running, fortunately some of us are running in the right direction with silver medal for Lucy O’Sullivan in the Lady’s compound individual and bronze for Lucy, Shayne Munday and Dan d’Orleans in the compound Team event.

Monday in the pool

Swimming gained 8 medals in the pool on Monday, 2 silver and 6 bronze. JJ Gallichan swam an outstanding 1500 meters and broke the previous Island Games record and the Island record to be beaten by the Faroes world ranked Pal Johansen.

Jersey’s other silver came in the 4x50m ladies relay narrowly being beaten by the Faroes.

Jersey Ladies Volleyball team played their first game today against Saaremaa. The Jersey ladies played very well but lost in three sets 8-25, 15-25, 13-25. Their next game will be on Monday against Rhodes. The Jersey Mens Volleyball team also played their first game today against Isle of Wight and Jersey won with 25-16, 25-18,  25-9.  The mens next game is tomorow against Greenland...

Windsurfers Wait

After a windy Saturday, Sunday was a frustrating day for the windsurfers. While most the island was under a blazing sun, Yaverland was under a blanket of fog coming off the sea. Every now and then the sun tried to burn through, which might have resulted in a decent sea breeze. This didn’t happen until 5pm, too late for the wind to build.

Monday looks brighter, so hopefully there will be more wind…...

Windsurfers off for early practice.

The windsurfers are glad they brought their own equipment. Boards and rigs are provided for competition, but with the best wind of the week blowing this morning and official practice not starting until this afternoon, the boys have gone off for an early session at Ventnor.

Hopefully they will have time to look round and see the leaders of the round the island yacht race flying past at high speed...
