Emily Bashforth smashed the Island Games 100m freestyle record and this was followed by arguably the most exciting relay event of the whole competition when Jersey came from behind to eventually catch and overtake the Faroe Islands in the 4x100m individual medley...

The wind finally blew enough for the windsurfers yesterday (Wednesday). Three of us made the final 8 shootout after winning or coming 2nd in the heats. Unfortunately the later races were more of a lottery due to weed, catching some on a skeg would drop speed from 30 mph to 20 mph. Justin finished 5th, I was 7th and Rob 8th. Bermuda are leading the team event with Menorca 2nd and Jersey 3rd...

The third day in the pool turned into an amazing finale when the girls smashed the Island Games record in the 4x100m freestyle relay and beat the Faroes by the narrowest of margins and in doing so became the first girls team to all swim sub minute. The atmosphere at the Medina centre was electric and a fitting end by winning gold. The team also recorded 4 silvers and 2 bronze.
